Dear fellow tasters,
Christmas is coming up and several weeks ago I tagged along a blogger friend to try Nanny’s Pavillon’s Home Sweet Christmas special menu. I have been to Nanny’s Pavillon other restaurants several times before but that afternoon we were welcomed to Nanny’s Pavillon Kimberly’s Room at Plaza Indonesia where the place is decorated like a teenage girl’s bedroom, namely Kimberly, with all the makeup kits, dresses, shoe racks, dressing tables and other girly details.
We started off with the Welcome Home Tower Tea Set, a high tea for two placed in a cute wooden Christmas house with the Saint Nick and faux snow decorations. In it were seven small-portion delights, savories and sweets: mini pancakes with smoked salmon, mini Alvin’s potatoes, smoked beef rolled pancakes, mini chocolate waffles, mini blueberry pancakes, strawberry skewered pancakes and two cups of assorted fresh fruits. They were all served with a couple cups of hot tea and to be honest were quite filling being shared for two persons.
Then, we had a taste of the beef main courses. The first was the Garden Tenderloin Steak served with homemade green peas sauce, cherry truss tomatoes and mashed potato. My meat was thick and juicy albeit cooked slightly uneven. It also tasted quite delicious with the sweet green peas sauce although I actually preferred a more salty and savory sauce. Next, we enjoyed the delightful Beef Fondue (available only at Nanny’s Pavillon Bathroom), a platter of Australian beef cubes cooked in sizzling oil with sautéed vegetables and three kinds of homemade dipping sauces.
For dessert, we tried the Let It Snow Pancake, a stack of berry pancakes covered with white chocolate sauce and mini Christmas tree built up from mint leaves and raspberries. It tasted quite nice although the sauce was much on the sweeter side. To wash all the holiday food down, we had the Maiya’s Choco Mallow, hot chocolate with float melted marshmallow. Perfect for a rainy Jakartan Christmas!
Also to celebrate Christmas, Nanny’s Pavillon gives a special Home Sweet Christmas gift for minimum purchase of 250k rupiahs. There will also be a One Hug Thousands of Love Asia Charity Tour running from 20-25 December 2012 throughout all Nanny’s Pavillon outlets where you can get a free hug from Mr. Jurgen, the International Free Hug Ambassador from Germany, as well as a scrumptious piece of Royce Chocolate.
Have a joyous Christmas!
