Dear fellow tasters,
It’s that time of the year again. Yes, the holiday season is here and Starbucks Indonesia brings back all those holiday season favorites and much more with its festive red cups. It has actually started about a month ago when I was invited to the Starbucks Red Cups Gathering 2012 at their Kota Kasablanka store but worry not, you can still enjoy them until 6 January 2013.
The gathering started with a Starbucks Christmas Blend Espresso Roast cupping. This sweet, spicy, caramelly yet roasty, dark and rich blend made a great pairing with the sweet and crunchy Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies, a favorite comeback from last year. There are also the smoother seasonal Starbucks Christmas Blend and a new variant of the cookies, the Raisin Oatmeal Cookies.
Then, we continued with tasting the holiday food. This year, Starbucks Indonesia serves up two savory sandwiches, two sweet items and one fruit bread. The sandwiches are the chicken black pepper focaccia sandwich and smoked turkey ciabatta sandwich. I liked the first one better because it was seasoned nicely with a peppery flavor while the later tasted kind of bland to me, as if it screamed for something more, maybe a spread of cranberry sauce? The sweet counterparts are the bread pudding and VIA(r) snowflake land but what I found more interesting was the stollen, a traditional German version of a fruit bread.
All three holiday beverages from last year also make a return, the rich and buttery Toffee Nut Latte, the chocolaty Peppermint Mocha, and my favorite, the luscious and warming Cranberry White Chocolate Mocha which I prefer to enjoy hot or as frappuccino. Also, this year Starbucks Indonesia not only “rekindles the joy” of their loyal customers but they also spread the holiday spirit by giving back to the community via Sahabat Anak, Yayasan Himmata and Yayasan Karang Widya organizations. You can also help to grant a child’s wish by participating in the Drop of Hope program up till 13 January 2013.
