More Indonesian deliciousness coming up. Following the ‘food steps’ of Mbah Jingkrak, Java Work is another food establishment which specializes in ready-to-serve spicy Javanese cuisine where you can pick and point the dishes that you want from the available food counter selections. The restaurant is located strategically on Bek Murad, the road behind the Wisma Metropolitan complex and the place features a spacious modernly-designed open air area complete with a mezzanine level.
From the various dishes served, there are plenty to choose from, chicken, beef, seafood, vegetables, and more. For spiciness, try out their cumi cabe hijau (green chili squid), the spicy chicken (notable by the massive amount of chili on it), the kerang pedas (spicy clams), or simply try out the assorted sambals. Less spicy options are also available such as the tasty ayam goreng lengkuas (galangal fried chicken), asem-asem daging (beef in sour soup), tempe tahu bacem (tempeh and tofu cooked in palm sugar and spices), and the famous tempe mendoan (half-fried battered tempeh with spicy sweet soy sauce). The price here is also quite affordable and another plus point is that you get to eat free kerupuk (crackers made from tapioca which is sort of a must-have side dish for Indonesian cuisine) as much as you want. And I think they have free wi-fi too.
