Dear fellow tasters,
Other than the infamous Pizza Hut, there are many pizzerias around the capital which are definitely worth a try. One of them is Pizza Marzano, a pizza franchise from the UK which has opened several outlets in Jakartan prominent shopping malls. I’ve been there several times and when I rummaged through food shots from my mobile phone, I found pictures from two visits.
The first was a lone dinner visit to Pizza Marzano Grand Indonesia. I was craving pasta and at that time they had an ‘Eat Pray Love’ three-course package promo. From the menu, I chose the ‘Funghi Gratinate’ for appetizer, the ‘Spaghetti Carbonara e Spinaci’ for main, and the ‘Panna Cotta de Al Fruitti de Bosque’ for dessert. Overall, the meal was quite satisfactory and filling. The funghi gratinate’s portion was a bit too much for one person and it also came with baked doughballs. However, it was pretty enjoyable because I loved the portobello mushrooms. The spaghetti was so so but the panna cotta (didn’t get a shot cause my battery ran out) was actually quite nice.
The other visit was when I met a friend at fX Sudirman and both of us agreed to dine at Pizza Marzano there because of a 50% credit card promo (again!!!). We ordered to share a ‘Pizza Quattro Stagioni’ and a ‘Lasagne Pasticciate’. The pizza was quite enjoyable with various toppings on the thin crust, however I felt that the pepperoni, capers, anchovies, and olives made it quite a bit salty. We both loved the lasagne. The beef bolognese, the bechamel, the lasagne layers, and the mozarella were everything Garfield the cat would die for. It was greasy, cheesy, and scrumptiously yummy. We were actually very full after finishing the pizza pasta combo, but it turned out the total was still below the minimum for the discount so we ordered a tiramisu to finish off our dinner.
