Dear fellow tasters,
Fast food doesn’t have to be unhealthy and this is what is offered by The Soup Spoon, a fast food chain restaurant originally from Singapore which opened last year on lower ground floor Grand Indonesia shopping town. With a tagline of ‘wholesome soups from the heart’, soups are the focus of the menu while other choices of salads, sandwiches, wraps, sides, and desserts are also available.
First time there was with my ex-colleagues and while queuing for our order, we were offered to sample some of the soup selection which were all quite delicious. I finally decided to order the boston clam chowder and an upgrade to the ‘souper value meal’ with half a roasted beef wasabi sandwich and iced lemon tea. The soup was creamy and filling, and combined with the unique wasabi-crusted roast beef sandwich, was a hearty and satiating meal. Second time was alone and this time I ordered the tokyo chicken stew which was quite tasteful and I particularly liked it because of the radish and mushroom in it. The chicken tikka wrap that came with the value meal was also quite enjoyable. All in all, I would say The Soup Spoon is the perfect place for a warm meal in a cold rainy day or simply for the pleasure of enjoying a bowl of wholesome hearty soup.
The taster’s notes:
Favorite dish – the boston clam chowder and tokyo chicken stew
What to order next time – the yummy-looking choc fudge cake, might also try other soups
