Dear fellow tasters,
After lunch at By The Beach, for dinner my friends and I decided to try a chinese food place called the Soup Restaurant, still at Plaza Indonesia. Entering this chinese-themed restaurant, we were seated at a wooden table with matching wooden benches, just like in a kung-fu movie, right under a fake cherry blossoms tree decor. With a slogan of ‘House of Chinatown Heritage Cuisine’, the menu offers various choices of traditionally-cooked chinese food such as herbal soups and their specialty Samsui Ginger Chicken which my friend suggested to order. Our other orders were the mongolian beef ribs, king tofu, and the fried venison which is not that usual to find in a chinese restaurant.
Though I’m not much of a boiled and steamed chicken eater, the Samsui Ginger Chicken actually tasted surprisingly delicious, with tasty ginger sauce that really brought out the steamed chicken flavor. The mongolian beef ribs and king tofu were also pretty enjoyable while the fried venison sure was unique and delectable. For a different chinese food experience, I’d say Soup Restaurant is definitely worth a try.
