Madeleine Bistro

madeleine bistro

Dear fellow tasters,

Several weeks ago, I invited myself, actually more like tagged along a blogger friend Febi from Ingredients of Life, to a dinner at a newly opened French inspired bistro, down in crowded Kemang area.  The place is called Madeleine Bistro and it’s located at the far end of Kemang Raya street, on the newly-constructed modern-architected Kemang 89 building.  Stepping into the high-ceilinged glass-windowed dining area felt like a French escape from the hustle-bustle of hurried Jakartan life.  I loved how the subdued lighting, the empty frames hung on the wall, the massive lamp-slash-pot with colocasia plants, and the French decors on the glass windows, created a cozy welcoming atmosphere.

Praline [Closed]

Dear fellow tasters,

Once upon a time in my college days, my friends and I loved to venture to Cipete area just to go to Abuba Steak.  Now that Abuba has opened a branch just near Sabang, the reason we went all the way from northern and central Jakarta to the lower southern part was a French bistro and dessert house, Praline.   Continue reading

Bistro Baron

le baron @ bistro baron

Dear fellow tasters,

This is one long overdue post because it was four months ago that my friends and I went out to try this new French bistro that recently opened at Plaza Indonesia Extension. Bistro Baron, a bistro for barons and baronesses if that’s what the name means, offers a classy yet casual French dining experience that you can find in this high-end shopping mall in the heart of Jakarta. The outward bistro-like appearance, complete with decorated glass windows and blue-painted walls, displays a sleek simple white-table-cloth interior with matching white-aproned snobbish waiting staffs.
