Bebek Kaleyo

assorted duck @ bebek kaleyo

Dear fellow tasters,

Delicious duck doesn’t have to come in a plate of duck confit or Peking duck and for the price of one portion of duck confit in a fancy French restaurant, it will feed two to three people in this place, rice and drink included.  Of course, the comparison is well unbalanced but for a taste of duck with traditional Indonesian flavor, Bebek Kaleyo might just be the perfect destination.

putien heng hwa cuisines

Dear fellow tasters,

I used to pass through Sawah Besar street, or nowadays known as Sukarjo Wiryopranoto, during my commute from work and I couldn’t help but noticing a certain restaurant always packed with cars parking at the front.  Through word of mouth and googling, I found out that the restaurant is called Putien and it serves up Heng Hwa cuisines, a lesser-known variant of Chinese food, but definitely not the least delicious. Madeleine Bistro

madeleine bistro

Dear fellow tasters,

Several weeks ago, I invited myself, actually more like tagged along a blogger friend Febi from Ingredients of Life, to a dinner at a newly opened French inspired bistro, down in crowded Kemang area.  The place is called Madeleine Bistro and it’s located at the far end of Kemang Raya street, on the newly-constructed modern-architected Kemang 89 building.  Stepping into the high-ceilinged glass-windowed dining area felt like a French escape from the hustle-bustle of hurried Jakartan life.  I loved how the subdued lighting, the empty frames hung on the wall, the massive lamp-slash-pot with colocasia plants, and the French decors on the glass windows, created a cozy welcoming atmosphere.

garlic and butter escargot @ helen's

Dear fellow tasters,
