Mr. Curry Food Tasting Panel

mr. curry

Dear fellow tasters,

On Thursday last week, I joined another food tasting gathering.  Well, I didn’t get invited at first but I read about it on twitter, so I mentioned Mr. Curry’s twitter account and yay an email came in for the invitation *grin*.  I have been to Mr. Curry several times but only at their Grand Indonesia restaurant.  This time, the food tasting was held at their second and newest outlet at Pondok Indah Mall 2.  Location wise, it’s not that far but add weekday after-work hour and crazy Jakartan traffic, it took me two and a half hour to get there.

Kopitiam

Dear fellow tasters,

Kopitiam franchise restaurants are a dime a dozen these days.  This one is the one without anything trailing behind the kopitiam title and they have an outlet open in the LG level West Mall area of Grand Indonesia Shopping Town.  I went there one late afternoon to meet up with my friends who apparently already had lunch.  Thus, I decided to grab some bite there since I haven’t had any, while my friends only ordered some coffee and tried some of my food.

Dear fellow tasters,

More from my mobile photo archives, this one was from a lunch visit with a friend to a Thai restaurant at Plaza Indonesia, Kuppa, of course with a 50% credit card discount.  I think this place has existed there for quite a while and the concept is contemporary Thai cuisine, so the ambiance is more modern minimalist than ethnic traditional Thai, although when I dined there, the place looked as if it had seen its best years, glancing from the worn out menu books.

Dear fellow tasters,

Ismaya Group, which has successfully brought Jakartan food lovers a series of great restaurants such as Social House, Kitchenette, and Blowfish, recently opened a Japanese curry house which quickly became another favorite addition to the bustling culinary scene in this beloved metropolitan.  Mr. Curry, the cutely-designed cartoon mascot, accompanied by his loyal kitty, Mango-nyan, is ready to welcome curry lovers to taste different choices of curry and curry-flavored menu from curry rice, pizza, pasta, naan bread, to ramen, donburi, omelette rice, and baked rice.  The dessert menu is no less appetizing, such as the unique stick cheesecake with different flavors and Doraemon’s favorite dorayaki.

Jittlada

Dear fellow tasters,

Gosh, it’s been ages since I wrote the last post.  Merry Christmas to all fellow tasters and in this festive season, a lot of great dining has happened so I’ve decided to continue blogging. This post is a little bit about a Thai restaurant which reminds me of a friend’s farewell dinner several years ago in the main Jittlada restaurant located at Jalan Sultan Agung.  Nowadays, you can find a Jittlada outlet almost at every mall around Jakarta and this post and rating are based on a visit to a mall outlet in Senayan City shopping center.
